Model trains on display

ATLANTA — The local chapter of the National Model Railroad Association is celebrating National Model Railroad Month by sponsoring a tour of more than 40 layouts throughout Metro Atlanta.
The layouts are featured as part of the “6th Annual Tour of Atlanta’s Great Model Railroads” — also known as the Piedmont Pilgrimage. The layouts are open to the public free of charge during scheduled times between Oct. 25 and Nov. 29.
Railroads modeled in a number of gauges — including N, HO, S and G — will be featured in this year’s Piedmont Pilgrimage. About a dozen layouts join the tour for the first time this year.
For those looking for larger trains, the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth will be open Nov. 6-9 at no charge with a coupon. The 30-acre Southeastern Railway Museum features more than 90 pieces of rolling stock and an operating layout.
On Nov. 8-9, the North Georgia LEGO Train Club and the North Atlanta O-Scalers will be operating layouts during the museum’s “Model Railroad Days.”
For a complete schedule of the tour, details about the model railroads that will be featured on the tour and photos of the layouts, log onto the Piedmont Pilgrimage’s Web site.
