CSX Intermodal Expands Florida Services

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — CSX Intermodal (CSXI) announced that it is further expanding its services in Florida with a wider array of shipping options.
Beginning December 23, customers can take advantage of trailer service, in addition to container service, to Orlando, where CSXI already offers superior access. The heavily trafficked lane from Atlanta to Orlando will now be available for private trailers owned or leased by companies other than CSXI.
Shipping schedules from the western gateway of Memphis, Tenn., to Orlando also are available with expanded gate deadlines.
“We are proud to create additional opportunities for our valuable customers,” said Jim Hertwig, president of CSXI. “This additional flexibility complements our existing services to the important Florida market. Customers can leverage additional efficiencies with their equipment, and take further advantage of existing key lanes such as Savannah to Orlando.”
CSXI serves every part of Florida, with company owned terminals in Jacksonville, Orlando and Tampa, and shared terminals in other key locations.
The company has received virtually all necessary permits to build a modern new terminal at Winter Haven in Central Florida. Hertwig said additional business in Orlando will be seamlessly transitioned to the new Winter Haven terminal once it is constructed. It is expected to be ready in 2010.
