Union Pacific Railroad Named to Most Admired for HR List by Human Resource Executive

OMAHA, Neb. — Human Resource Executive has named Union Pacific Railroad as one of its 50 Most Admired for Human Resources companies for 2009. Union Pacific is the highest-rated U.S. Class I railroad on the list and is ranked No. 19 overall, up 10 spots from 2008.

Hay Group, which partners with Fortune to identify and rank the magazine’s Most Admired Companies list, conducted the research used to develop the Human Resource Executive rankings. Criteria included quality of management, people management, innovativeness, and quality of human resources products and services offered.

Union Pacific has received numerous awards during the past 12 months including 2009 Corporation of the Year by the Great Plains Minority Supplier Development Council, the top military-friendly employer by G.I. Jobs, one of the top 50 Best Places to Launch a Career by BusinessWeek, one of the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles from the National Business Group on Health, one of America’s Most Reputable Companies by Forbes, and the Distinguished Service Award from the Military Officers Association of America.
