BNSF Announces Changes to Marketing Leadership

FORT WORTH, Texas — BNSF Railway Co. has announced changes to its Marketing leadership.

George Duggan will be joining the Coal Marketing Team as vice president, succeeding Sami Shalah, who is retiring in August. Duggan will report to Steve Bobb, group vice president, Coal.

Duggan joined Burlington Northern, a BNSF predecessor, in 1990 as a grain specialist. During his career, he has held various assignments with progressive leadership responsibility in customer support, marketing and sales. Since 2005, Duggan has served as vice president, Domestic Intermodal. He has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Missouri-St. Louis (1990) and attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University (2004).

Katie Farmer will be joining the Consumer Products team as vice president, Domestic Intermodal, succeeding George Duggan. Farmer will report to Steve Branscum, group vice president, Consumer Products.

Farmer joined Burlington Northern, a BNSF predecessor, in 1992 as a corporate management trainee. During her career, she has held a variety of roles with progressive leadership responsibility in customer support, marketing, sales and equipment. Since 2005, Farmer has served as vice president, Industrial Products Sales. She has a bachelor’s degree in Marketing (1992) and a master’s degree in Finance (1994) from Texas Christian University.

Tom G. Williams has been named vice president, Industrial Products Sales, succeeding Katie Farmer. Williams will report to Dave Garin, group vice president, Industrial Products.

Williams joined Santa Fe, a BNSF predecessor, in 1993 as a pricing analyst. During his career, he has held several marketing and sales roles with progressive leadership responsibility. Williams has been serving as assistant vice president, Service Design, since 2006. He has a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Indiana University-Bloomington (1993) and an MBA from the University of Chicago (1999). A successor to Williams will be announced at a later date.
