Two Killed in Amtrak Crash Near Philly

Two people were apparently killed after a southbound Amtrak train struck a backhoe on the tracks near Philadelphia, according to media reports.

Palmetto Train No. 89 was traveling from New York to Savannah, Ga., when it hit the backhoe in Delaware County, reports indicated. The train apparently blew it’s horn before the collision.

It was not immediately clear if the fatalities were on the train or on the ground. According to CNN, there were 341 passengers and seven crewmembers on the train at the time of the crash.
