23 Killed in Train Crash in Southern Italy

At least 23 people were killed when two trains collided on a stretch of single track in Southern Italy, according to published reports.

The trains collided at about 11:30 a.m. local time between the towns of Andria and Corato in the Puglia region.

“Surely one of the two trains shouldn’t have been there. And surely there was an error. We need to determine the cause of the error,” the BBC quoted railway police Commander Giancarlo Conticchio as saying.
