Railfanning in Benson, Ariz.

BENSON, Ariz. The Southern Pacific Railroad was the first to reach this small town in southwest Arizona.

Later, the El Paso & Southwestern Railroad built a line between Benson and Tuscon, which was finally completed in 1912. That road was soon followed by the Sonoran Railroad, which operated trains between Guaymas, Mexico, and Benson.

Union Pacific still operates trains through Benson.
