OMAHA, NEB. – General Motors Corporation has named Union Pacific Railroad as one of eight outstanding suppliers worldwide.
General Motors selected UP for its superior performance in transporting parts and finished vehicles as well as substantially cutting transit time through a redesigned western network for GM.
General Motors credited the companies for helping GM get through its most aggressive new vehicle launch schedule ever without any major disruptions in delivery as well as improvements in overall supplier quality.
Union Pacific was the only logistics company to receive the prestigious recognition for outstanding achievement.
Ike Evans, Union Pacific president, accepted the award at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 9.
“To be recognized as one of the world’s best automotive suppliers by General Motors is quite an accomplishment for the men and women of Union Pacific,” Evans said. “This award is evidence that Union Pacific is dedicated to providing the best service possible to our customers.”
