OMAHA, Neb. – Union Pacific Railroad and CSX Intermodal have announced a joint enhanced rail/truck service to Mexico from the eastern and southeastern United States.
The expanded “Passport Service” will move 48-foot trailers by rail to UP’s intermodal facility in Laredo, Texas, where Union Pacific Carrier Services will arrange motor carrier moves to more than 100 destinations in Mexico.
“With our strong presence in Mexico, this new option will make business opportunities in Mexico even more attractive,” said Randy Blackburn, UP’s general manager intermodal.
“By teaming up with UP and having the customers send their billing for both their southbound and northbound movements directly to CSXI, we continue to make shipments to and from Mexico easier for our customers,” said Alex Werdenberg, CSXI market manager for Mexico. “We now offer another reliable and economical solution to long-haul trucking on congested highways to and from Mexico.”
