OMAHA, Neb. — Union Pacific will improve part of Illinois’ transportation infrastructure with a nearly $22 million investment to its rail line that runs from Dupo to near Fults, Ill. Union Pacific Railroad Invests More Than $8.5 Million for Track Improvements to Its Line from Near Clinton to Near Blairstown, Iowa

OMAHA, Neb. — Union Pacific will improve part of Iowa’s transportation infrastructure with a more than $8.5 million investment to its rail line that runs from near Clinton to near Blairstown, Iowa. The projects include removing and installing nearly 54,000 ties, spread 33,500 tons of rock ballast to ensure a stable roadbed, renew the surfaces in 79 road crossings. The tie replacement project began May 1 and is scheduled to be completed by the first week of June. Union Pacific Railroad Invests More Than $3 Million for Track Improvements to Its Line from Near Jefferson City to California, Mo.

OMAHA, Neb. — Union Pacific will improve part of Missouri’s transportation infrastructure with a more than $3 million investment to its rail line that runs from near Jefferson City to California, Mo. The projects include removing and installing more than 22,000 ties, spread more than 11,000 tons of rock ballast to ensure a stable roadbed and renew the surfaces in 31 road crossings.  The tie replacement project began April 25 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of June.  The road surfacing improvement projects began in February and are scheduled to be completed by the end of May.

Amtrak Improves Service to New Buffalo, Mich.

LANSING, Mich. – Starting May 10, passengers aboard the Amtrak Wolverine Service (Pontiac-Detroit-Chicago) and Blue Water (Port Huron-East Lansing-Chicago) trains can now travel directly to New Buffalo, Mich., and have the option of spending a day at the beach, returning home that night, or making a vacation of it, all from the new downtown station near the lakefront.
