Michael Rutherford has been appointed CSX’s vice president of industrial products. The appointment is effective immediately.
Rutherford will lead all sales and marketing activities for the recently-expanded industrial products portfolio which includes housing and construction materials, forest products, metals, minerals, military equipment and machinery.
“Michael brings more than 17 years of cutting-edge sales and marketing experience to his new role, including 8 years in a variety of business-critical positions at CSX,” CSX Executive Vice President and Chief Sales & Marketing Officer Fredrik Eliasson said in a news release. “During that time, he has earned a reputation as an effective communicator and strategic thinker who drives bottom-line results by advancing our market intelligence efforts and driving customer service improvements.”
Prior to his current role, Rutherford served as Assistant Vice President-Industrial Products, after serving as director of CSX’s “Voice of the Customer” customer insights team and director of marketing in which he helped launch the UMAX interline container program. Prior to joining CSX, Rutherford served at major consumer products companies Adidas and Johnson & Johnson before being named CSX director of strategic planning in 2008. Rutherford holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Georgetown University and an MBA in International Business from SDA Bocconi University.
