The Federal Railroad Administration is expected to announce nearly $2.5 billion for 122 rail projects across 41 states.
The money is from the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) grant program. This funding can be used to improve the safety, efficiency and reliability of both passenger and freight rail.
“Today’s funding will improve rail safety and service in communities—strengthening the nation’s supply chains and the economy,” Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Rick Larsen, D-Washington, said in a statement.
