Norfolk Southern Railway Co. has filed a verified notice to discontinue service over a roughly 11-mile rail line in Virginia.
The line runs between milepost B 51.0 near Riverton Junction in Front Royal, Virginia, and Milepost B 62.0 in Strasburg, Virginia.
NSR has certified that no local traffic has moved over the line for at least two years and that any overhead traffic on the line can be rerouted over other lines. Additionally, the company said that no complaints filed by a rail user or a state or local government acting on behalf of a user regarding cessation of service over the line are pending with the Surface Transportation Board or any U.S. District Court or have been decided in favor of a complainant within the past two years.
It also met the requirements of newspaper publication and notice to governmental agencies.
