Marmon Rail Introduces ProTecht: Industry-First Mobile, Autonomous Tank Car Cleaning System

Marmon Rail has launched ProTecht, a mobile, autonomous tank car cleaning system now available in the U.S. and Canada.

The system, operated by UTLX in the United States and Procor in Canada, is the first of its kind in the rail industry and removes the need for workers to enter confined spaces containing hazardous residues. It is compatible with all tank car types and offers three cleaning modes for different commodities: water filtration for light residues, steam injection for midgrade materials and an automated cannon for hardened residues.

Designed for railyard use, ProTecht filters and reuses water and detergent to reduce waste and environmental impact. The system aims to cut freight moves and downtime, speeding turnaround and improving asset utilization for fleet owners.
