CPKC Says 16 U.S. Labor Agreements Ratified

Canadian Pacific Kansas City said 16 tentative collective bargaining agreements reached in recent weeks with various U.S. labor unions have been ratified, covering about 700 railroad employees across multiple states.

The five-year agreements provide wage increases for CPKC railroaders working in Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Texas and Wisconsin.

Among the ratified deals is one agreement with the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen representing about 300 locomotive engineers on the Soo Line property operating in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin.

Five agreements were ratified with the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen, covering 231 carmen on the Delaware & Hudson, Soo Line, Kansas City Southern, MidSouth, SouthRail and TexMex properties.

Five additional agreements were reached and ratified with the Transportation Communications Union/IAM and the American Railway and Airway Supervisors Association. Those agreements cover approximately 108 clerks, maintenance workers, and mechanical and engineering supervisory employees on the Delaware & Hudson, Soo Line and Kansas City Southern properties.

Two agreements were ratified with the National Conference of Firemen and Oilers, representing 26 hostlers and laborers on the Soo Line and Kansas City Southern properties.

Additional ratified agreements include those with the Soo Line Locomotive and Car Foreman’s Association, the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers and the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers.

CPKC said two more tentative five-year agreements reached in December with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, covering 76 U.S. electricians on the Soo Line and Kansas City Southern properties, remain subject to ratification.
