BNSF Railway says it has reached a new five-year collective bargaining agreement with the Transportation Communications Union/IAM intermodal group, covering workers at the railroad’s Cicero and Corwith facilities in the Chicago area, as well as intermodal terminals in Seattle and Memphis.

The agreement is tentative and subject to ratification. BNSF said it covers 746 employees and provides wage increases totaling 17.5% over five years, or 18.8% on a compounded basis. The deal also includes retroactive pay beginning July 1, 2025, along with accelerated vacation improvements and preserved health care benefits.

BNSF said the contract complies with the current national pattern agreement. The railroad said about 95% of its workforce and 12 of its 13 represented unions are now covered by either ratified or tentative agreements.
