JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — CSX Transportation has appointed Bob O’Malley, a public affairs executive in Central Florida, to a new position as resident vice president-state government affairs for Florida. The role is new, and will complement the company’s efforts in the Southeast.
In that regard, O’Malley will work in close partnership with Craig Camuso, the Atlanta-based regional vice president-Southeast. Both will report to Mike O’Malley (no relation), vice president-state government and community affairs, in Jacksonville.
Bob O’Malley, who will maintain offices in Orlando, will be responsible for all Florida legislative and community initiatives.
“We are pleased to have someone of Bob’s caliber join our company to help represent us in our home state,” said Mike O’Malley. “We have a number of important initiatives under way that promise to enhance Florida’s economic growth while delivering environmentally friendly and efficient freight service to hundreds of customers across the state.”
Bob O’Malley, an accredited public relations professional, was most recently director of the Orlando office of Ron Sachs Communications. He has served as Director of Public Affairs and Strategic Planning for Metroplan Orlando, the regional transportation planning organization for Central Florida, and as Director of Public Relations for the American Lung Association of Florida. He is past president of the Orlando area chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association.
O’Malley received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Central Florida, and is a graduate of Leadership Orlando and the Senior Executives in State and Local Government program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
