KC Streetcar ridership continues to climb this summer as riders took more than 587,000 trips in July along the expanded 6.5-mile route.
During July 2026, the KC Streetcar recorded 587,014 passenger trips, including a record-setting 55,973 trips on Saturday, July 11. Even after FIFA World Cup activities concluded in mid-July, ridership remained exceptionally strong, averaging approximately 19,000 passenger trips per day for the remainder of the month.
By comparison, the KC Streetcar carried 184,230 passenger trips in July 2025, when service operated exclusively on the original 2.2-mile downtown route.
The continued growth in ridership has pushed the system beyond 3 million passenger trips in 2026 and more than 20 million passenger trips since service began in 2016.
While FIFA Fan Fest at the National World War I Museum & Memorial generated significant demand during the first half of July, data shows that nearly three-quarters of all streetcar trips were to and from destinations along the route, including the City Market, River Market, Power & Light District, Union Station, Country Club Plaza, UMKC, and the Riverfront. The data highlights the streetcar’s growing role as an everyday transportation option connecting neighborhoods, destinations, residents, workers, and visitors.
