Norfolk Southern Railway Company and Collier Metals LLC, a provider of coil processing and distribution services to the metals industry, opened the first Class I SteelNet facility in the Atlanta area.

The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway Company (BNSF) and Norfolk Southern Railway Company (NS) announced a plan to introduce a new coast-to-coast carload service assurance program for temperature-controlled commodities moving from selected cities in the Pacific Northwest (PNW), to the Midwest, Northeast and Southeast.

Norfolk Southern Railway and Union Pacific Railroad announced a new service that trims up to three days from current transit times on intermodal shipments from eastern cities to Laredo, Texas, and to Mexico.
