KiwiRail and Greater Wellington Regional Council are taking a two-phased approach to fix carriage vibration issues in the Wairarapa following the completion of an independent investigation.

Intensive work to rebuild the foundations of the busiest section of the Western Line, allowing more reliable trains and helping prepare the network for City Rail Link, is substantially complete.

Transport Minister Simeon Brown has opened the new Auckland Rail Operations Centre, which will bring together KiwiRail, Auckland Transport, and Auckland One Rail to improve service reliability for Aucklanders.
