ARCADE, Ga. – This small Jackson County city sprung up along the Gainesville Midland Railway.

The city was incorporated in 1909, three years after the Gainesville Midland Railway opened a line between Jefferson, Ga., and Athens, Ga. The railroad that passes through town is still active, today operated as the Gainesville Midland sub of CSX.
