CN’s Canada-Based Rail Traffic Controllers Ratify New Collective Agreement

MONTREAL — CN and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference/Rail Canada Traffic Controllers (TCRC/RCTC) have ratified a new three-year labor agreement. The union represents approximately 200 Rail Traffic Controllers at CN across Canada. The contract, retroactive to Jan. 1, 2009, provides for wage increases of 1.8 per cent for 2009, 2.4 per cent for 2010 and 2.6 per cent for 2011, as well as dental plan benefit improvements that come into effect on June 1, 2010.

Union Pacific Railroad Invests More Than $20 Million for Track Improvements to Its Line from Near Manville to Near Lusk, Wyo.

OMAHA, Neb. — Union Pacific will improve Wyoming’s transportation infrastructure with a more than $20 million investment to improve the rail line that runs from near Manville to near Lusk, Wyo. Work on the nearly 26-mile stretch of railroad track began May 4 and is scheduled to be completed in mid June. The project includes removing and installing new rail and more than 67,000 concrete ties. Crews also will spread more than 86,000 tons of rock ballast reinforcing the roadbed. Union Pacific Railroad Invests Nearly $22 Million for Track Improvements to Its Line from Dupo to Near Fults, Ill.

OMAHA, Neb. — Union Pacific will improve part of Illinois’ transportation infrastructure with a nearly $22 million investment to its rail line that runs from Dupo to near Fults, Ill. Union Pacific Railroad Invests More Than $3 Million for Track Improvements to Its Line from Near Jefferson City to California, Mo.

OMAHA, Neb. — Union Pacific will improve part of Missouri’s transportation infrastructure with a more than $3 million investment to its rail line that runs from near Jefferson City to California, Mo. The projects include removing and installing more than 22,000 ties, spread more than 11,000 tons of rock ballast to ensure a stable roadbed and renew the surfaces in 31 road crossings.  The tie replacement project began April 25 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of June.  The road surfacing improvement projects began in February and are scheduled to be completed by the end of May.
