Amtrak is “run in a Soviet-style operation,” a Congressman told CNN in the wake of Tuesday’s deadly derailment in Philadelphia.
“There’s no question the United States has a third-world rail system. It’s a monopoly run in a Soviet-style operation. Amtrak,” U.S. Rep. John Mica, R-Fla., told CNN.
Eight people were killed after the Washington-to-New York train derailed in the Port Richmond section of town. Investigators believe the train was speeding at the time of the crash.
