The Association of American Railroads (AAR) has awarded CSX and its wholly-owned subsidiary Total Service Distribution Inc. (TDSI) with an award for the highest-quality automotive ramp service performance in the country.
“The recognition of these facilities is indicative of the level of quality we deliver throughout our network of world-class vehicle distribution centers,” Clarence Gooden, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, CSX, said in a news release. “Our core strategy for our automotive customers focuses on delivering safe, high-quality service every day, and we appreciate the recognition of the hard work of our automotive network employees.”
The AAR bestows awards annually to one origin and one destination facility. This year, CSX’s Strawberry Yard in Louisville, Ky., was named the top origin for finished vehicle staging and loading and CSX’s facility at Palm Center, Fla., selected as the top destination for light vehicle unloading in 2014.
The award is selected based on a number of criteria, including quality review audits that examine the policy, procedures and conditions at the facilities, focusing on safe operations and handling of vehicles to prevent damage.
