This weekend’s Norfolk Southern steam train excursions in Georgia have been canceled.
Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum No. 4501 was set to pull a pair of trains from Atlanta to Toccoa. However, heavy rains and the threat of flooding washed away plans.
“With the area of heavy rainfall expanding into Georgia coupled with the high possibility of numerous flash flooding restrictions, Norfolk Southern and Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum have cancelled the Piedmont Limited excursions from Atlanta to Toccoa on October 3 & 4,” a Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum representative said in an email.
The trips were part of Norfolk Southern’s 21st Century Steam program.
