At least a dozen people were killed and 268 injured after a passenger train collided with a truck in South Africa, the BBC reported.
The train was traveling from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg, according to ENCA.com. There were apparently more than 700 people on the train at the time of the crash, reports suggest.
“The truck driver was taking chances. He thought that he was going to pass through,” The Associated Press quoted Transport Minister Joe Maswanganyi as telling reporters. “Little did he know that the train was going to hit him. That has cost a lot of lives.”
Other reports suggest 14 people were killed.
