N.J. Transit has tapped Bombardier to deliver 999 multilevel passenger cars, according to a new report from Reuters.
In selecting Bombardier, N.J. Transit eliminated Chinese state rail company CRRC Corp. from the running.
Bombardier built the more than 400 multilevel passenger cars currently in use on N.J. Transit. It delivered those cars starting in 2006.
N.J. Transit has not formally awarded the contract, Reuters reported.
