Operation Lifesaver Names New State Coordinators in Seven States and the District of Columbia

Operation Lifesaver (OLI) has named eight new leaders to head its state programs.

The new coordinators will serve in Alaska, the District of Columbia, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Nebraska and Nevada. The additions bring the total number of state Operation Lifesaver programs to 47 states plus Washington, DC.

OLI is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The nonprofit public safety education and awareness organization is dedicated to reducing collisions, fatalities and injuries at highway-rail crossings and preventing trespassing on or near railroad tracks.

“OLI welcomes our newest state coordinators and applauds their commitment to making their communities safer,” OLI Executive Director Rachel Maleh said. “State Coordinators manage rail safety outreach and education throughout their states – and are an integral part of helping to #STOPTrack Tragedies.”

“We are thrilled to have these eight terrific safety and nonprofit experts on board,” Maleh added. “Know the facts. Make good decisions. Take the rail safety pledge. And share the rail safety message. Together, we can stop track tragedies.”
