Southern Museum to Kick Off Caboose Restoration Project

KENNESAW, Georgia — The Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History is set to kick off a restoration of its former Southern Railway caboose.

Caboose X372 was donated to the city of Kennesaw in 1991. It was initially displayed next to the historic Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis Railway depot, and it was located to its location outside of the museum in 1993.

Gantt Manufacturing built the bay window caboose in 1975.

The museum will formally launch its fundraising campaign during Railroad Rendezvous on July 22.
