Bucco: Summers are Always Hot and NJ Transit is Always Broken

New Jersey Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco is again demanding answers from NJ Transit on why it continues to leave commuters stranded.

“Summers are always hot, yet NJ Transit continues to fail when it comes to its basic responsibility: getting New Jerseyans to and from their destination,” Bucco, R-Boonton, said. “We continue to throw money at this agency, and we see no improvement—how much more do they need? The bottom line is people need reliable transportation. Riders have a right to be frustrated and angry. Just as they are hit with a 15% fare increase, service declines. NJ Transit leadership must be called upon to provide answers and a plan. No more excuses!!!”

Early Wednesday morning, NJ Transit said the weather might affect the ability to run some of the trains through Friday. It claimed customers may experience delays, and it may be necessary to cancel or combine trips for the next 48-72 hours.

Bucco recently renewed his call for an audit of NJ Transit, highlighting the 2018 audit of NJ Transit that found structural and operational challenges, along with a severe lack of transparent communication with commuters which plagued the agency—the same problems we are seeing the agency struggle with in 2024.
