CSX will close a railroad crossing on Main Street in Cartersville, Georgia, for five days beginning Tuesday, May 26, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The closure will affect Main Street between Museum Drive and Erwin Street while crews resurface the crossing. Motorists should use alternate routes and expect delays near the work zone.

According to the city, affected crossings include West Avenue, Leake Street, East Main Street, Cherokee Avenue, and Carter Street. City officials said the crossings are likely to close simultaneously and are expected to remain closed for approximately 24 to 48 hours while the CSX team completes resurfacing and repaving work at each location.

GDOT said the work is weather permitting and is scheduled to run through Saturday, May 30. Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution and check traffic conditions before traveling through the area.
