MARTA Reopens Indian Creek Station After Bridge Install

ATLANTA – Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority Blue Line service resumed at Indian Creek Station this morning after the successful installation of a new pedestrian bridge connecting to Durham Park Road. The new bridge will improve pedestrian and bicycle access and accommodate future trail routes to the station.

Rail service to the station was temporarily stopped Dec. 8 through 9 to expedite the bridge installation and ensure the safety of customers and employees. During the two-day suspension of rail service, MARTA provided bus shuttle service between Indian Creek and Kensington Stations. Local bus routes out of Indian Creek and parking at the station were not impacted.

The pedestrian bridge installation is part of the larger Indian Creek Station Rehabilitation Project, aimed at improving safety, accessibility, and the overall rider experience, and is funded through MARTA’s State of Good Repair Program.

Additional upgrades at Indian Creek Station include improvements to the platform, concourse, elevator, lighting, public artwork, landscaping, and extensive cleaning. The grand opening of the pedestrian bridge and the project’s completion is scheduled for spring 2025.
