Amtrak will stop funding its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives immediately and will require employees to work from the office four days a week starting March 3, Bloomberg reported.

UPSHOT: The change isn’t necessarily a surprise and comes as many companies scrap their DEI initiatives following the election and inauguration of President Donald Trump.

CONTEXT: Newly minted U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has also signed a “Woke Rescission” Memorandum, directing secretarial officers and heads of operating administrations to eliminate DEI and other initiatives implemented under President Joe Biden.

SAYING: “We are cultivating a workplace culture that welcomes everyone — and we have a solid foundation to build upon,” Amtrak Chief Executive Officer Stephen Gardner said in a statement without a date on Amtrak’s website. “…I am confident in our future direction as we continue to connect more people and places across America.”
