The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority is hosting a series of public hearings May 12-17, to finalize the NextGen Bus Network, a strategic redesign of more than 100 bus routes.
Feedback received during the public engagement period from surveys, in-person and virtual meetings, direct customer engagement and roundtable discussions with MARTA operators was used to refine the final NextGen Bus Network.
The scheduled public hearings will provide participants with a route-by-route review of the proposed changes and a designated section for public comments. MARTA staff will document the comments received and share them with the MARTA Board of Directors ahead of a final vote to potentially adopt the transformative bus network redesign.
The designated community exchange period allows participants to ask MARTA representatives questions directly and better understand how the proposed changes may affect their specific routes.
“We’re thrilled by the tremendous feedback and the excitement surrounding the NextGen Bus Network as we embark on a new chapter in MARTA’s unwavering service to our customers and jurisdictional partners,” MARTA General Manager and CEO Collie Greenwood said in a release. “These public hearings are a vital step in delivering a modernized bus network designed to better serve the way people live, work, and travel today while supporting the continued growth and connectivity of our region.”
