Union Pacific agreed to acquire Norfolk Southern in a deal valued at $85 billion, according to reports.

UP is North America’s largest railroad. The deal, a cash-and-stock transaction, would create the coast-to-coast railroad in the United States.

Both boards have approved the deal. It is subject to regulatory approval.
