A person was struck and killed by an Amtrak train on Wednesday afternoon while apparently trespassing on the tracks west of Metuchen, MyCentralJersey.com reported.
Amtrak Train 174, traveling from Newport News, Virginia, to Boston, hit the individual around 1:48 p.m., according to Amtrak spokesperson Jason Abrams, the outlet reported. No injuries were reported among the passengers or crew.
Authorities have not released the person’s name, age, or hometown. Additional details were not immediately available.
