NJ Transit to Temporarily Suspend all Bus, Light Rail and Access Link Services at 6 p.m. Today

Based on the latest weather forecast from the National Weather Service and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of customers and employees, NJ Transit bus, light rail and Access Link services will be temporarily suspended at 6 p.m. today, Sunday, Feb. 22.

Rail service adjustments are expected later in the evening and will be shared with ample advance notice.

NJ Transit will be assessing the storm’s impacts throughout the overnight, from Sunday into Monday, to determine when it is safe to resume service.

Customers should continue to monitor service alerts, njtransit.com, the NJ Transit mobile app or their individual line account on X for the latest service updates. NJ Transit officials said the agency will provide updates on Monday’s service as it assesses storm impacts across the state.

Bus, light rail and Access Link services will remain suspended from 6 p.m. through the end of the service day Sunday and will remain suspended until conditions safely allow for the gradual resumption of service.

Aligned with Democratic New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill’s message to New Jerseyans regarding this storm, customers should avoid unnecessary travel as roads need to remain clear for local, county and state forces to remove snow so service can resume as quickly as it is safe to do so.

During a service suspension, customers may see light rail vehicles operating. However, those cars are operating without passengers to keep overhead wires and tracks free of snow and ice. Motorists should always abide by railroad crossing gates, and pedestrians should only cross at designated pedestrian crossings, even during a service suspension, as equipment may continue to move throughout the railroad and light rail systems.

NJ Transit’s Emergency Operations Center is closely monitoring weather forecasts and conditions as the storm develops and moves through the state. Key personnel will be pre-positioned in the field and at NJ Transit facilities to monitor and respond quickly to any impacts to the system throughout the storm.
