COLUMBIA, South Carolina — The South Carolina Department of Transportation is asking the public to weigh in on travel, safety and freight movement along key highways and connecting roads in Greenville and Spartanburg counties.
The online survey is part of SCDOT’s Upstate Logistics and Industrial Corridor Study, which is focused on identifying practical transportation improvements for a fast-growing industrial and logistics corridor. The study area includes portions of Interstate 85, U.S. 29, S.C. 290, S.C. 101, S.C. 14 and S.C. 80.
SCDOT said the selected roads are critical to moving people and goods through a part of the Upstate that continues to see job growth, more daily travel and heavier freight activity. The agency said the goal is to identify implementable solutions that can relieve congestion and improve movement on highways and local roads in the study area.
The study is separate from but coordinated with a broader planning study of the I-85 corridor, expected to begin later this year.
SCDOT is conducting the corridor study with regional planning partners, local governments, major employers and transportation agencies.
Public comments are being accepted through June 6. The survey is available at projectportal.scdot.org/greenville-spartanburg-interarea-planning-study.
