U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson, R-N.C., on Thursday touted the role trucking plays in the domestic economy and as a job creator after he toured the Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. service center in Charlotte.
“Trucking plays an integral role in the United States economy, moving nearly all consumer goods at some point in the supply chain process,” Hudson said following a tour of the Old Dominion service center. “As an industry, trucking companies provide well-paying jobs to thousands of Americans, and it’s important in this economy that we work to learn the secrets to success from companies such as Old Dominion that continue to create jobs.
“I appreciate the opportunity today to view firsthand the operations of Old Dominion Freight Line and learn the role they play in our everyday lives,” Hudson added. “I look forward to working with my colleagues in Washington on initiatives that ensure the trucking industry continues to grow for years to come.”
Hudson serves as chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security’s Subcommittee on Transportation Security.
“We always appreciate the chance to showcase our operations to members of Congress, especially Congressman Hudson, who has worked tirelessly to support industries that create jobs,” said William Cranfill, Old Dominion’s vice president for government affairs. “We are excited to continue building our strong relationship with Congressman Hudson as we work together on the important issues that face the trucking industry and the country.”
