JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — CSX Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael Ward announced the appointment of Louis E. Renjel as vice president-strategic infrastructure initiatives. Renjel will report to Ellen M. Fitzsimmons, senior vice president-law and public affairs, general counsel and corporate secretary.
“Louis will help our communities meet their transportation needs while increasing the capability of CSX to accommodate long-term growth,” Ward said. “His experience in the public and private sectors and his leadership in developing environmental solutions make Louis uniquely qualified for this assignment.”
Renjel, who joined CSX in Washington, D.C., in 2006, has been active in the Company’s federal government and environmental issues. Among his new duties will be a leadership role on the team responsible for public-private partnerships in Florida, Massachusetts and the National Gateway, CSX’s plan to create a more efficient rail link between Mid-Atlantic ports and the Midwest.
Before joining CSX, Renjel was a director of government relations for Cummins Inc. From 1999 to 2003, he worked with U.S. Senator James Inhofe of Oklahoma, first as legislative assistant and then as deputy staff director of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. Renjel has also served as associate director of environmental and regulatory affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
In his new assignment, Renjel will be located in Jacksonville. He succeeds Lisa A. Mancini, who was recently named senior vice president-human resources and labor relations.
