A Look at the Steam Locomotive Heading to the Ohio Railway Museum

With the news that a steam locomotive would be returning to the Ohio Railway Museum, let’s take a look at the locomotive during its stop at the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth, Georgia, in September and October 2018.

Jeddo Coal No. 85, named “Mack,” pulled trains during back-to-back special weekends. John and Barney Gramling of Ashley, Indiana, own the steamer and take it to museums and events nationwide.

The museum is home to Norfolk & Western No. 578, a Class E2 4-6-2 Pacific locomotive. Built in March 1910 at the American Locomotive Company’s Richmond, Virginia, plant, the museum says it was reassigned to Columbus, Ohio, in 1917.

The steam locomotive pulled excursions on the property but has been on static display since the 1970s.
