MARTA is planning to replace its entire fleet of railcars, including some railcars that date to 1979, when the transit system opened, published reports indicate.
The federal government is expecting railroads to implement positive train control (PTC) systems by the Congressionally mandated Dec. 31 deadline, Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao said in a letter.
CN will acquire 200 new locomotives over the next three years from GE Transportation to handle growth opportunities and drive operational efficiency across its system, the railroad said.
