NEW YORK – Amtrak president Joe Boardman participated in a roundtable discussion regarding high-speed rail in the Northeast Corridor hosted by House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman U.S. Representative John Mica. Mr. Boardman made the following statement: “It is critical for the Northeast Corridor to remain a public asset for the generations of Americans that are depending on our collective leadership to secure their future. WASHINGTON – In response to customer demand, Amtrak Keystone Service (Harrisburg – Philadelphia – New York) will add Quiet Car service starting Jan. 24, providing passengers with a peaceful, quiet atmosphere to work or rest without distraction. The coach car adjacent to the locomotive will typically be designated as the Quiet Car. Seating on the Quiet Car is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and cannot be reserved. There is no additional charge for a seat in a Quiet Car.

WASHINGTON – Improvements to the track used by the Amtrak Crescent (New York – New Orleans) service will result in a temporary schedule change from Jan. 10 – Feb. 17 with trains not operating between Atlanta and New Orleans Monday through Thursday of each week.
