Norfolk Southern Corp. shareholders voted overwhelmingly to approve its previously announced transaction with Union Pacific at the company’s Special Meeting of Shareholders.

The National Conference of Firemen and Oilers and Union Pacific Railroad have reached an agreement that will ensure jobs for hundreds of railroaders as Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern pursue the creation of what the railroads said would be America’s first coast-to-coast railroad.
