Biography
Blanton Thomas Martin (December 7, 1898-October 18, 1956) was an engineer for the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad, working freight service on the line between the Tampa area and north Florida.
On the morning of October 18, 1956, Martin was the engineer of Train No. 237, a southbound Atlantic Coast Line freight train. At 5:12 a.m., in dark and foggy conditions near Pineola, south of Floral City, Florida, No. 237 collided head-on with northbound Extra 317 North. Martin was one of four railroad employees killed in the collision.
He was buried at Forest Grove Cemetery in Alachua, Alachua County, Florida. Find a Grave identifies Forest Grove Cemetery as being in Alachua, Florida.
