Officials spar over plan to rehabilitate train tunnel from New Jersey into New York City

Repairing an existing rail tunnel beneath the Hudson River while constructing another tunnel could hasten a long-standing project to increase capacity between New Jersey and New York City. But it requires “pre-construction activities” to be “undertaken immediately and expedited to completion,” a new report suggests.

N.J. Transit Adopts $2.6 Billion Operating Budget for the 2021 Fiscal Year

N.J. Transit Board of Directors has adopted a $2.6 billion operating budget for the 2021 fiscal year. It also approved an $11.2 billion capital budget for projects already funded and nearly $5.8 billion for “proposed projects for which funding has yet to be identified,” but that are vital to its operations.
