A VIA Rail train running between Winnipeg and The Pas derailed about 23 miles north of Hudson Bay, the railroad said.

Train 693 had eight cars, 16 passengers and five crew members when it derailed at 3:05 a.m. Central. According to a news release, two locomotives and the baggage car “derailed on their side,” but “all passengers’ cars remained upright.”

Passengers and crew were taken to the Hudson Bay Health Care Facility for assessment and treatment. All were subsequently discharged, according to the railroad.

“VIA Rail is ensuring all passengers and crew members are safely transported to Winnipeg where accommodation will be provided until they get to their final destination,” the railroad said.
