SMYRNA, Georgia — Railfanning.org Publisher and Editor Todd DeFeo highlighted the cyclical nature of history, using the history of the Atlanta Northern Railway as an example.
“It’s just interesting how our mindset shifts and … changes and, frankly, repeats over the years,” DeFeo told members of the Jonquil City Kiwanis Club on Tuesday . “And I think that’s perhaps what the real lesson of the past is — it’s looking back at what we once had, understanding why we got rid of it, and how we could have benefited today.
“…And I think that’s the great lesson of the Atlanta Northern,” DeFeo added. “Because to know where we’re going, we need to know where we’ve been, and as we build a direction for the future, let’s understand our past.”
