Georgia Public Service Commission Says Railroad Can Condemn Land for Spur

A Georgia Public Service Commission hearing officer has ruled a railroad can take private land from several Sparta property owners, saying its proposed rail spur “serves a legitimate public purpose.”

FRA: Final Rule on Train Crew Size Requirements Will Improve Rail Safety

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Railroad Administration has issued a final rule establishing minimum safety requirements for the size of train crews. The new rule enhances safety in the rail industry by generally requiring and emphasizing the importance and necessity of a second crewmember on all trains.
