BTS Data: Nearly 4 Percent of Urban Rail Transit Maintenance Facilities Are in Excellent Condition

A mere 3.9 percent of urban rail transit maintenance facilities ranked as excellent in 2023, according to new data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.

A nearly equal number of facilities (3 percent) ranked as poor. Nearly half (45.4 percent) of facilities were rated adequate, while more than a third (36.2 percent) were good, and 11.5 percent were substandard.

The percentage of urban rail transit maintenance facilities ranked as excellent in 2023 declined from 6.7 percent in 2018. BTS numbers show. Concurrently, the number of poor-rated facilities declined from 9.5 percent.
